Summer is here

Suddenly, we are surrounded by Bluebells, Campion, Wild Orchids and Lilac and Camellia in our woods and on the hillsides after the worst few months we have had or years.

Our Swimming Pool is now open & is heated for our guests.  We thought that readers of our blog would like to see the beauty of our valley at the moment and a photo of our lovely Guide Dogs, 12 year old Vince (retired) and Quasia, 4 year old working Guide Dog.

We do hope you will come and stay with us to enjoy all this peace and beauty and the lovely areas of Devon & Cornwall all around us.

Autumn Breaks

Our lovely outdoor swimming pool has now been put to bed until May 1st when it will be heated and ready for the summer season.  Our Autumn & Spring Breaks have the advantage of their own log fires in their rooms as well as our 3 nights for 2 offer until May 1st.

During December and January, excluding Christmas & New Year when we close for a few days, we offer a 3 night stay which includes a continental Breakfast in your room.  This very economical stay at £80 per night for two people is always popular with guests who want luxurious accommodation whilst Christmas shopping or visiting local family. Nearby National Trust properties offer Christmas delights and there is a chance to relax around the busy Christmas period.  This 3 night room only with continental breakfast can only be booked over the telephone or by email.

Don’t forget our lovely Gift Vouchers are available and would be ideal for a very special Christmas or Birthday present.  You can buy just one nights stay or a two night stay which is valid for twelve months.

Don’t forget that the during our Autumn and Spring Break times (October until the end of April) the recipient will also be able to book 3 nights for 2.

My retired Guide Dog Vince is now a lovable but lazy old man!

Quasia, my new guide dog is quite adorable and loves everybody.

We all hope to see our regular guests again soon and new guests too.

Autumn is nearly here!

After a busy summer it is time we wrote a blog again!  Vince is now 11 and a half  and he is getting lazy in his retirement, his back legs trouble him so he has some painkillers now but he is still a lovely dog.  He has accepted my new quide dog Quasia, she is adorable and very affectionate, she is smaller than Vince.

We have had two lots of Inspectors visits recently and I am pleased to say that both of The AA and the English Tourist Board have again awarded us 5 Stars Gold Award and the Breakfast Award.  So we must still be getting it right!  The Good Hotel Guide have again selected us for inclusion in their guide for 2018, due to be released in October 2017.

The swimming pool is being put to bed until May 1st  next year but the log-fires are stocked up in our Garden Rooms to coincide with the closing of the pool and the start of our Autumn and Spring Breaks where you can enjoy 3 nights for the price of 2.

Don’t forget we have very attractive Gift Vouchers which make Special Christmas or Birthday presents and they are valid for 12 months.

Hope to welcome all our regular and new guests

Primroses and Daffodils

Primroses and daffodils are blooming in abundance in our valley and the surrounding counryside and we are now seeing baby lambs.

My new guide dog Quasia is full of the joys of spring but I think Vince is now glad to be retired – he is getting quite lazy!

We are busy getting the outside jobs done ready for the swimming pool opening at the end of April. Colin hopes to have the new steps ready for then.

We have just had a visit from an Inspector from The Tourist Board (Visit England) and I am pleased to say that we have retained our top listing of 5 Stars Gold Award plus the Breakfast Award.

Daffodils and Snowdrops

Spring is on the way and our snowdrops and primroses are coming out.  IMG_0788The daffodils are appearing and soon it will be Bluebell time in our woods. This is a lovely picture of Vince and Quasia in last years spring bluebells.

We are re-building the steps by the swimming pool (which opens from May 1st), over the next month to make sure that the route to our woods is safe for our guests.

The bridleway lane which is used to reach us is also in need of much repair so that is being dealt with very soon.

Our very good 3 nights for 2 offer runs until the end of April – so come and see us soon.
